Doll to resemble someone
How does it work to get a doll that can resemble someone? Either you choose the face, wig etc, or send via e-mail or snail mail photos of the individual with as much information as possible, such as eye color etc. For the 22" dolls the closest face of the over 30 faces is picked based on how closely it resembles the individual. Same for wigs. X-tra Special Creations is a dealer for 2 different wig companies therefore, having available many styles and colors (more than what is shown on this site, currently). The same can be done for the 18" dolls although only 6 different face are available, and the 36" doll which only has one face available currently. Will it look exactly like the person? Perhaps yes, perhaps no. It is created to resemble the person.
What if I do not like the way the doll looks do I have to keep it? We understand that it is difficult to imagine what your doll creation may look like, and that you may not like it once you see it. We will even try to send you advance photo(s) for your approval before sending the doll, if possible. Except for very unique, custom dolls that are drastically different from what is offered on the site any doll can be returned for a refund less shipping. If a doll is considered very unique and not returnable you will be told that up-front before the doll is made. Otherwise, any doll is returnable within 30 days, for a full refund less shipping. If I send you photos via snail-mail what happens to them? All photos are returned unharmed, even if you choose to not keep the doll. They are your property, and are returned. Would a picture I send you end up on your site? We would never put a picture of a person on the site without express permission. Although we would love to have photos, we respect privacy. Even if we have permission to use a photo we would never put the person's name nor other identifying information on the site. However, the doll created may be shown on the site. Custom Dolls
Are the dolls totally created from scratch by your company? No, the parts come from a variety of sources. The dolls are then hand assembled by us to the customer's specifications. So, if I wanted I could just purchase a doll from where you obtain your parts? No, the completed dolls are only available through authorized dealers. How are you different from another company that offers these types of dolls for sale? We offer more choices in wig styles and colors, clothing and accessories. We offer what they do and more. This way you can really create the doll how you want it to look. In fact, we were the first to offer the better armature for Chris. Which has caused a stir among some of the other dealers. The maker of the Chris parts is even considering changing to the better armature. What if I want a doll created that is different from the choices on your site? Dolls can be created with different skin color, or a different eye color than what is cited for an extra fee of $20. However, these dolls may take up to 2 months longer to obtain due their being a custom, special order. Although, usually does not take that long. Additionally, clothing can be often be created to accomodate your wishes. Shipping
How are the dolls shipped?
It varies. In the past all our dolls being shipped within the continental United States had been shipped via UPS. However, due to the gas price situation and UPS raising their rates in response to this, the dolls are often shipped via the United States postal service. We ship the most economical manner possible to try to keep our costs and your expense down. We will tell you though, how the doll will be shipped prior to shipping, if possible. All dolls are insured no matter which method of shipping is used. Testamonials
How are testamonials obtained?
Most of the testamonials come in written format either via snail-mail or e-mail. They are unsolicited. Having been received by us, they are then the property of X-tra Special Creations. However, prior to using a testamonial we will try to obtain permission for its use. Names or other identifying information are never used in connection with any testamonial.
